Trimble® Global Positioning System (GPS)
Our Trimble® TSC2™ controller is a handheld computer that features a full keyboard for total station or Global Positioning System (GPS) operation. Running the Trimble® SCS900 Site Controller Software on a Microsoft® Mobile operating system, the TSC2 Controller offers an intuitive, easy-to-use interface for a wide range of site positioning applications, and has the power to hold information for multiple large job sites to suit your needs.
Designed for construction site measurement and stakeout operations, the Site Controller Software measures, computes volumes, and loads CAD and surface model files for jobsite stakeout and grade checking applications. This gives supervisors, foremen, grade checkers, and site engineer’s total control of site operations.
Applications:
- Roads and highways – rough grading
- Large earthmoving projects – dams, reclamation, etc.
- Landfills and waste deposits
- Commercial site prep – complex design
- Commercial site prep – pads, grading for large slabs, etc.
- Residential site prep
- Subdivisions – pads, local infrastructure
- Land reclamation projects
- Golf course construction
- Railway construction
Features and Benefits:
- Significant cost saving
- Less time to completion
- Less rework
- No waiting for stakes to be set
- More accurate, more consistent excavation
- Perform more complex excavation
Efficiency Pays Off with “Paydirt”
Antczak Construction also has a program called Paydirt, which saves us time bidding jobs. We can take an electronic file of a project and run it through this program to determine the quantities of materials we need for any job. If an electronic file is unavailable, we can digitize paper plans and get quantities that way. Not only does this program save time, but there’s much less chance of making costly errors. Enthusiasm for the company’s new software is contagious. Don and Craig are quick to tell clients of another great feature—being able to draw a plan, digitize it and put it in GPS software called Terramodel downloaded to either the dozer or TSC2 controller to use on the job.
Example: “We were on a jobsite where we were going to build a horse arena. We took the TSC2 controller, entered the corners of the pad and downloaded that information to the computer in Terramodel. Then we set proposed grades of what we wanted for the pad and, within the hour, had the 3D design built and in the dozer without leaving the jobsite. We were able to move on to another project, leaving the operator behind to run the dozer using GPS, and never had to put a stake in the ground. He got it perfect.” If clients have us topo a job and we end up getting that project, we already have a head start, which saves us time and the customer money. Antczak Construction can also topo material piles and give customers accurate estimates of how many yards of dirt or rock they have on hand.
